Plain language. No legalese where we can avoid it. The short version: we don't sell data, we don't share recordings, and you can delete everything anytime.
You are trusting us with information about your parent — including recordings of their voice. We take that responsibility seriously. Here is the gist of how we behave with that information:
The rest of this policy goes into the details. If you have any questions, write to privacy@tellie.app and a real person will reply.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not use your parent's recordings or transcripts to train artificial intelligence models for sale or use by anyone outside Tellie.
We do not sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone, ever. This is a permanent commitment.
We do not share recordings or transcripts with third parties outside of the limited service providers listed below who help operate Tellie.
To run Tellie, we work with a small number of vendors. They are bound by contract to use your data only to provide their service to us, and to handle it securely:
We will only disclose your information in response to a valid legal process (such as a court order). When the law permits, we will notify you before doing so.
Your parent's consent is the foundation of how Tellie works. Here is how it operates:
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy law (GDPR in the EU/UK, CCPA in California, PIPEDA in Canada, and similar). Regardless of where you live, every Tellie family has the following rights:
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@tellie.app. We will respond within 30 days.
We treat your family's data with the care it deserves. Specifically:
No system is perfectly secure. If we ever experience a data incident affecting your information, we will notify you promptly and explain what happened, what was affected, and what we are doing about it.
We keep your account information for as long as you have an active subscription, plus a short period after cancellation to handle final billing and any disputes (typically 90 days).
Recordings and transcripts are retained for up to 12 months by default, so we can detect long-term patterns. You can shorten this retention period in your settings, or delete recordings individually at any time.
When you delete your account, we permanently delete your account information and your parent's recordings within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records (such as billing records for tax purposes).
Tellie is designed for adult children of aging parents. The service is intended for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have done so, contact us and we will delete it.
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect, and the updated policy will appear on this page with a new "last updated" date. You can always email us with questions about any change.
